THE WORLD IS DIFFERENT NOW
Major Internet service providers (ISPs), home networking equipment manufacturers, and web companies around the world are converging to permanently enable IPv6 for their products and accommodations.
In the year since World IPv6 Launch commenced on 6 June 2012, global utilization of IPv6 more than doubled. 2013 marked the third straight year IPv6 use on the global Internet has doubled. If current trends perpetuate, more than a moiety of Internet users around the world will be IPv6-connected in less than 6 years.
Organized by the Internet Society, and building on the prosperous one-day World IPv6 Day event held on 8 June 2011, World IPv6 Launch represents a major milestone in the global deployment of IPv6. As the successor to the current Internet Protocol, IPv4, IPv6 is critical to the Internet’s perpetuated magnification as a platform for innovation and economic development.
