The partnership between the two parties appoints MEC as an official distributor of Fortinet’s network security products in the country. Through MEC’s extensive local partner base, Fortinet is expected to cater to businesses of all sizes. Fortinet’s solutions suite includes High Performance Firewalls for data centers, NGFW (Next Generation Firewall) for the enterprise edge, and UTM (Unified Threat Management) for distributed offices.

“Today, we are number two in Asia Pacific. And number one in my region – Southeast Asia and Hongkong in terms of most UTM (Unified Threat Management) appliances. Solution has gone from the small end to the big [corporations]. So we have solutions almost in every area,” said George Chang, Vice President of Fortinet for Southeast Asia and Hongkong. “It is my belief that in the next two years, this year and next year, the security markets will peak [in the Philippines].”

As a value-added distributor, MEC is not limited to distribution of ICT products; it also provides knowledge transfers and support services to its partners. “MEC is one of the few homegrown distributors in [the] Philippines that have sustained a growing chance with their value-added services like the RunTime,”noted Chang. “What we are planning for this year is to have more solid partnerships with all of our resellers. Around 70 guests attended the partnership launch to witness the official partnership launch between MEC and Fortinet. “We believe that the synergy between MEC and Fortinet will lead to a mutual growth in the local market. While Fortinet continues to deliver network security technologies which can help MEC stretch its ICT portfolio, MEC will make sure that Fortinet receives the local support that it deserves in terms of product facilitation and marketing,” added Chua.
